Street Fighter Alpha Max 3 - PSP
A gameplay mode new to the Street Fighter Alpha series, Variable BattleMode, has been implemented to allow real-time tag team brawls. Tag out and the second fighter enters performing a jump attack, a move useful for escaping tight situations. Yun, Maki and Eagle, from Capcom vs. SNK 2, as well as Ingrid from Capcom Fighting Evolution, enter the arena exclusively in this PSP edition, with all new original storylines. Versus battles heat up with the Wi-Fi League Battle Mode that allow a maximum of eight players to duke it out in round-robin mini tournaments.

Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games
Earlier in 2007, SEGA announced Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games for both the Nintendo Wii as well as the Nintendo DS consoles. As we got closer to the end of the year, SEGA decided to send the Nintendo DS version into 2008 instead of pairing it up with its Wii brother for a simultaneous launch. Whatever the strategy behind this – whether the handheld game needed a bit more time in development, or whether the company was afraid the two versions would eat into each others’ sales numbers – the fact remains that, apart from a few control tweaks and changes, as well as an extra mode or two in the handheld rendition, the two versions are almost identical in design. That’s certainly not a bad thing as SEGA’s unique mash-up of two familiar brands is a pretty fun Track & Field-style design, and it’s impressive to see how well the handheld team kept up with the console developers when building the DS game.

Pursuit Force - Extreme Justice (PSP)

More over-the-top than its predecessor, Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice has players taking the role of a commander who is the highest ranking operational officer as well as four new playable characters, all of whom are responsible for tracking down and bringing to justice five hardcore street gangs in and around Capital City. As a member of a special police unit known as the Pursuit Force, this time around players engage in high-speed action to traverse land, air and sea in their continued battle to rid the city of crime which includes three new gangs. Featuring more than 50 criminal cases set among seven distinct environments, players have access to 12 different vehicle types which include hovercrafts and boss vehicles that are each unique and specifically designed for boss encounter missions. Extreme Justice also offers an expanded weapons arsenal to assist players in the pursuit of justice. Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice also introduces multiplayer capabilities to the franchise with up to four players in Ad Hoc mode.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare DS
Back on Game Boy Advance there was an amazing obsession with pocket first-person shooters. 3D environments were no easy task on the hardware, with most efforts resorting to classic raycasting engines circa Doom and Wolfenstein, but for some reason that development bug ran wild for a few glorious years of low frame, low res FPS goodness.
For whatever reason though, pocket FPS development has slowed down considerably since the release of the Nintendo DS, with only the mediocre Goldeneye: Rogue Agent, impressive first-party Metroid Prime Hunters, and recently released survival horror Dementium: The Ward.
